Pan

Finally a long weekend and a lot of time at my hands. This is the result:

My camera really killed the colours, but never mind. This is pencil and watercolor on heavy watercolor paper, 8 x 10″.

I’ll do some traditional pieces in the future – it’s another kind of challenge than digital painting entirely – no “Strg + Z” for instance. If you make a fault, it’s there and won’t go away again.

Mr. Jones

This pictures is in desperate need of a better title…

Koi Tree

Imagine a place far away from the realm of men, where the Koi can live untouched under their tree. They are neither fish nor ghost, and no living creature has ever even glimped them.

Finally, new Art! This started as a doodle, but I decided to push it further. I’m not quite sure if I am happy with it. (Perhaps uploading helps and I will figure out what’s missing…)
I’m glad that as I paint more, the speed of things improves as well. This was done during two days, perhaps 4 hours. I think at the beginning of the year it would have taken me double that time.

In other news: School starts in two weeks and I’m really excited about it! I have only a vague idea of what the Illustration class might contain – feels like I’m jumping into cold water there – which is totally ok.

Scars and Updates

Sorry for the lack of update. When I’m working on something I tend to neglect something else – in this case, art. I was very busy working my day job and there was simply no time.

But alas, the weekend is approaching – and with it the Scars of Mirrodin Prerelease. I’m quite exited to see how Scars will turn out in Play. The spoilers don’t look too bad (Infect seems like fun). After I didn’t like M11 particularly much, perhaps this one will be better. (I’m still in grieve that ROE ist gone, though. Guess it was just my kind of mythology and flavour all around the cards).

AND, have a short Preview of a new Illustration. Not quite finished yet, but won’t take much longer:

Finally, finally.

Finally a new painting! After all these traditional drawing for my portfolio I had to make something digital again. Phew!

But the stress was not without reason: I can call myself art student now! Beginning in October, I will attend illustration classes at a school not far away. I’m really thrilled about this! :D

Plus, I’m thinking about an own website. I had one, but that was ages ago and mere playing around. Hm.

I have been quite busy preparing my portfolio for the application to art school  lately. Besides, there is work, ans that wants to be attended to, too. So the last two weeks were a blur of too much work, not enough sleep and not enough social experiences. But I got lots of artsy things done, which is good in itself, too. I will eventually post pictures later.

All this will change after the 7th of August. I hope.

Sorin

Ok, here’s something totally different than the usual.

People around me say “You should paint men sometime!” and I look at my gallery and think they are probably right. So I thought “What better than to combine some Magic: The Gathering and drawing men?”

And this was done. Of course, this is entirely fan art, based on the beautiful picture of Sorin Markov by Michael Komarck. Done in Photoshop and I guess took me more time then I want to admit. But I loved making it and I think there is a new style emerging here somewhere…

In other news, as my Boyfriend is about to graduate, I will be on vacation until the 18th of July. Very very much needed vacation. I think I will sleep for about a week. Then I will wake, cry “Art!” and start doing something new.
